Layar launches augmented reality content store!

Layar, the company behind the popular augmented reality service and application (available for the iPhone and Android), launched something completely new – Augmented Reality content store! The new service allows companies and individuals to make money by offering its content through Layar Reality Browser, which is already used on more than 1.6 million mobile devices globally.
The payments are conducted through Layar Payment Platform that supports multiple currencies and multiple payment providers, including PayPal which is officially the first payment provider.
As for the first publishers, here are the first 4 companies that decided to jump on-board from the bat:
- Berlitz City Guides – which show the city’s highlights such as attractions, restaurants, hotels, places to shop and nightlife spots.
- eTicketapp for Disney World and Disneyland – helps find and navigate all attractions, shows, shops, dinning, transportation, and more in Disneyland and Disney World.
- Eyetours – for exploring Puerto Rico’s natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
- UK sold prices – lets you find out for what price that house was sold.
And if you’re interested to sign-up as a publisher, you should know one more thing – Layar takes a 40% cut.
The new AR content store works sings along the latest version of the Layar Reality Browser for Android, with an updated iPhone app that supports the store set to be released soon.
